About the role
The Orthotics department at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is seeking to re-integrate Orthotic & Prosthetic technicians into our workforce for both inpatient and outpatient requirements. We are interested in hearing from both experienced O&P technicians looking for new challenges,and also newcomers to the O&P industry. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply.
The role is advertised at either Allied Health Assistant (AHA) or Technical Officer grade, depending on the individual applicant’s prior experience.
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 10 August 2027 (with possibility of ongoing employment)

What you'll be doing
The Allied Health Assistant (Orthotic) provides technical assistance to orthotists and the manufacture of a range of orthotic and related devices for patients referred to the Orthotics Department.
The Grade 1 Orthotic Technician is responsible for providing technical support to orthotists and the manufacture of a comprehensive range of orthotic and related devices for patients referred to the Orthotic Department.
This includes fabrication, adjustment, modification, maintenance and repair of orthoses as requested by the orthotist, workshop supervisor or manager.
The technician may be asked to attend outpatient clinics, clinical rooms or hospital wards to assist the attending orthotist. This includes assisting the orthotist during casting or measure taking procedures. The Grade 1 Orthotic Technician may have in-depth knowledge or specialise in one or more areas of technical production and design and may be called upon to provide advice of a technical nature in regard to a particular orthosis, design or method of manufacture.
