Assistant Early Childhood Educator FLEXIBLE HOURS

About the role

We are an owner-operated childcare centre located in Haberfield, in Sydney's Inner West. We care for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a single, close-knit mixed age room with a maximum of 21 children. We put the children first with a project-based curriculum, creating a variety of play-based learning experiences.

We currently have two part-time positions available, with short shifts to support your study and work-life balance. Shift times include 8am-1pm and 1pm-6pm, with a minimum of 3 days (5 days is preferred). This role is perfect for an educator studying/just completed their Certificate III in early childhood education. Traineeships available.

Key responsibilities

• Caring for and engaging with children aged 6 months to 5 years

• Creating play-based learning experiences

• Building close connections and relationships with children and families

• Joining regular excursions to the park and local library

• Everyday cleaning and tidying of the room and equipment

• Cooking - all educators are rostered to help prepare the children's meals

• Reporting to the most senior educator rostered on

About you

• Current First Aid Certification (essential)

• A valid Working with Children Check (essential)

• Excellent English communication skills (essential)

• A passion for working with children and making a difference to their education

• A person open to learning more about child development and wanting to expand their skills and understanding

• A proactive person who is keen to improve our Service and practices

• A person that works well with a close-knit team, always willing to ask for help when needed and is excellent at communicating ideas

• Previous childcare experience is a plus, but not essential - we welcome those starting out or studying for their Certificate III
