Christian School Sporting Association is seeking a Sport Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high‑quality state‑level school sport programs. This role offers an outstanding opportunity for an experienced sport administrator or educator to make a genuine impact in a well‑regarded not‑for‑profit organisation.

About the Organisation
The Christian Schools Sports Association (NSW) comprises schools affiliated with Christian Education National (CEN), Christian Schools Australia (CSA), and other independent Christian schools. The Association exists to foster Christian thought and practice through participation in sporting events within and between Christian schools.

The Association is responsible for coordinating and delegating the organisation of major state-level carnivals and gala days, including Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country, and Gymnastics, for both primary and secondary schools. Member schools may also organise additional interschool sporting events, either with other member schools or with schools outside the Association, at their discretion.
These carnivals form an integral part of each school’s Physical Education program. Accordingly, it is essential that all events are conducted in accordance with the official rules and standards governing each sport.

Statement of Aims

1. To foster Christian thought, practice and administration in relation to sports and sporting events within and between Christian schools.
2. To co-ordinate, organise, conduct and manage combined athletics, swimming, cross-country, gymnastics and other sporting events involving member schools.
3. To encourage and assist member schools in organising their own inter-school sporting events.
4. To develop and promote appropriate policies, rules and guidelines, based on Christian principles, for the conduct of interschool sporting events.
5. To assist member schools to develop and improve their physical education and sporting programmes and activities.
6. To facilitate the participation of the Association, or representatives of the Association, in sporting events other than those arranged by the Association.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sport Operations Manager to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of all CSSA Primary and Secondary State Sport programs and assist in the delivery of CSSA Trials as required.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, the CSSA State Sport Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full range of CSSA Primary and Secondary School Sport activities and events.

The role requires strong organisational, interpersonal, and leadership skills to ensure all programs are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with CSSA policies and procedures.

Sporting events are considered equivalent to one full day of work and may occur outside standard school hours, including early starts or late finishes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver all aspects of CSSA Primary and Secondary Sport programs.
• Ensure compliance with risk management, safety, and child protection requirements across all events.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with CSSA Sports Coordinators and Officials.
• Work collaboratively with the CSSA Executive Officer and Assistant Executive Officer to ensure efficient systems, communication, and workflow across the organisation.
• Ensure all operations align with CSSA Policies, Procedures, and Codes of Conduct.
• Contribute to the ongoing review and development of operational policies and guidelines.
• Attend CSSA meetings as required.

Challenges

• Managing the planning and coordination of equipment, resources, and activities across multiple sporting programs operating concurrently throughout the year.
• Maintaining flexibility in workdays and working hours, as sporting events and co‑curricular activities may occur on varying days and often extend beyond standard school hours, including early starts and late finishes.
• Adapting to a dynamic sporting environment where schedules, venues, or operational requirements may change at short notice.
• Establishing and maintaining a compliant home office arrangement, including a designated, quiet workspace that meets Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, such as:
  – Ergonomic furniture, including an adjustable chair and desk set at an appropriate height.
  – Adequate lighting and ventilation to support safe and effective work practices.
  – A safe environment free from trip hazards or other foreseeable risks.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, and capabilities:

Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in education.
• Demonstrated experience in school sport management, sport administration, or event coordination.
• Experience across a range of sporting codes and competitive environments.
• Experience using Meet Manager software for Swimming and Athletics.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to structure a productive work routine and manage multiple competing priorities.
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environments, including capacity to respond effectively to change.
• Strong leadership capability, with the confidence to coordinate stakeholders and support event delivery teams.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with schools, staff, and external stakeholders.
• High‑level written communication skills, ensuring information is conveyed clearly, accurately, and professionally.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in the use of digital tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and online communication platforms such as Zoom.
• Basic technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve minor software or connectivity issues independently.

Other Requirements

• Eligibility to work in Australia (Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa)
• Current Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport for travel to sporting venues
• Valid Working with Children Check
• Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
