About the role
About Farm Frites Australia
Farm Frites Australia Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer and distributor of premium quality frozen potato products. As a subsidiary of the global Farm Frites group, we are dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable food solutions to our customers across Australia and New Zealand. With a strong focus on quality, innovation, and environmental sustainability, we are a dynamic and growing company committed to excellence.
We are currently building a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Dooen, Victoria, and are looking for a Learning & Development Specialist to build our L&D function from the ground up.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the HR Manager – Plant / HR Director, you will play a critical role in establishing a skilled, safe, and high-performing workforce. Using Farm Frites International (FFI) materials as your foundation, you will design, adapt, and implement a complete L&D strategy tailored for our new site.
Working closely with local and international Operations, Quality, Safety, and HR teams, this is a hands-on position balancing strategy, system implementation, and frontline facilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish the L&D Strategy: Conduct site-wide training needs analyses across production, maintenance, and support teams to build a site-based L&D plan aligned with business goals.
Build & Deliver Training: Design and facilitate engaging inductions, technical skills training, and compliance modules (WHS, Food Safety, and SOPs).
Systems & Competency Management: Develop role-based competency matrices, manage LMS records, and track training effectiveness to ensure full audit readiness.
Drive Capability & Innovation: Introduce modern learning solutions (digital tools, microlearning), support frontline leader coaching, and foster cross-skilling and succession planning.
Global Collaboration: Work closely with international counterparts in the Netherlands to adapt global frameworks for the Australian plant.
About You
You are a proactive L&D professional who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and enjoys taking a function from concept to execution.
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: 3–5+ years in a Learning & Development, Training, or HR role—ideally within manufacturing or FMCG.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, L&D, or a related field. A Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, LMS platforms, and compliance training (Food Safety, WHS, SOPs).
Skills: Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage, coach, and influence stakeholders across all site levels.
What We Offer
Salary: AUD $100,000 base + superannuation.
Travel Opportunities: Includes international travel to the Netherlands to align with global teams (flights, accommodation, and meals covered per FFA policy).
Work Flexibility & Housing: Flexible hybrid working (remote / Horsham / Netherlands) during the initial rollout, transitioning to full-time on-site work. Relocation and housing assistance can be provided if required.
