About the role
Creative Industrial Designer — Wayfinding
Buro North is a design studio specialising in wayfinding, spatial UX, and public realm strategy for complex built environments — campuses, transport precincts, health facilities, and civic spaces. We're looking for a Creative Industrial Designer to join our studio and help translate strategic wayfinding concepts into buildable, beautiful physical outcomes.
About the roleYou'll sit at the intersection of design and delivery — taking wayfinding and signage concepts from early creative direction through to fabrication-ready documentation. This role suits someone who thinks in objects and materials as much as ideas, and who's genuinely energised by how something gets made, not just how it looks.
What you'll do* Design signage and wayfinding elements from concept through to construction documentation* Develop material, fixing, and fabrication details that hold up in real-world environments* Produce high-quality 3D renders to communicate design intent to clients and consultants* Collaborate with graphic designers, spatial strategists, and Project Directors across live projects* Liaise with fabricators and manufacturers to resolve buildability, tolerances, and finish* Contribute industrial design thinking to broader public realm and place experience projects* What you'll bring* Demonstrated experience in industrial design, signage, or exhibition/fit-out design* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and fabrication processes* Confident 3D modelling and rendering skills (Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar — plus a rendering package such as KeyShot, V-Ray, or equivalent)* Ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation* A portfolio that shows both creative concept work and resolved, real-world detailing* Comfortable working across multiple projects and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams* Nice to have* Experience in wayfinding, signage, or public realm design specifically* Familiarity with accessibility and universal design standards* Exposure to prototyping or working directly with fabricatorsSound like you? We'd love to see your work.
