Build and lead a new respirator fit-testing division

Aytrium Consulting is expanding its occupational hygiene services and is looking for an experienced RESP-FIT Accredited Fit Tester to establish and lead our new respirator fit-testing division.

This is not simply a fit-testing operator role. You will be given the opportunity to build the service from the ground up, developing systems, procedures, documentation and client programs while remaining actively involved in service delivery.

The right person will combine strong technical capability with the initiative and commercial awareness required to grow a high-quality, scalable division.

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Delivering qualitative and/or quantitative respirator fit testing across a range of workplaces

• Establishing the division’s operating systems, procedures and quality controls

• Developing fit-testing protocols, forms, reports, registers and client documentation

• Managing equipment checks, verification, maintenance, calibration and consumables

• Designing fit-testing programs for individual workplaces and larger workforces

• Providing practical advice on respirator selection, limitations, fit, use, inspection and maintenance

• Identifying facial hair, facial characteristics and other factors that may affect respirator fit

• Reviewing results, troubleshooting failed or unusual tests and recommending suitable alternatives

• Building strong relationships with clients and identifying opportunities for ongoing programs

• Supporting proposals, scheduling, pricing and service development

• Training and supervising additional fit testers as the division grows

• Working with Aytrium’s occupational hygienists and hazardous materials consultants on broader respiratory-protection programs

About you

To be successful, you will have:

• Current RESP-FIT accreditation

• Accreditation and practical experience in quantitative fit testing using the ambient aerosol CNC method

• Strong knowledge of respiratory protective equipment and workplace fit-testing requirements

• Experience conducting fit testing competently, professionally and on a one-on-one basis

• The ability to develop clear, defensible procedures and accurate test records

• Strong communication and client-facing skills

• Confidence working independently and taking ownership of a new service line

• Good organisation, attention to detail and practical problem-solving ability

• A current Australian driver licence and willingness to travel to client sites

Accreditation or experience in qualitative aerosol taste testing, controlled negative pressure testing, occupational hygiene, RPE program development, training or business development will be highly regarded.
