Administration Assistant

Your Position at St John of God Berwick Hospital

We currently have an opportunity for a Casual Administrative Assistant to join our Oncology team.

Based within the Day Oncology Unit, this role is responsible for providing frontline reception and administrative support, including welcoming patients and visitors, managing admissions and discharges, and delivering exceptional customer service. The position also involves more advanced administrative duties such as health fund checking, billing, managing bookings through the Charm scheduling system, and supporting processes related to high-cost pharmacy medications.

The Position

• Provide a high quality of service to all internal and external customers in a timely and effective manner.

• Ensure all patients, visitors, doctors and caregivers receive maximum service with minimum delay from all sections of the department.

• Ensure all patients are treated in an efficient, courteous, respectful manner having high regard for privacy and confidentiality in accordance with the privacy legislation.

• Ensure all patients are provided with relevant information including informed financial consent prior to or on admission.

• Ensure patients are advised of their rights as governed by the privacy legislation.

• Conduct general reception, switchboard, meeting and greeting stakeholders in a courteous manner.

• Appointment bookings in Webpas and Charm

• Compiling of admissions paperwork

You will have the ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care, along with experience using hospital patient administration systems, including IBA.

To succeed in this role, you will have strong knowledge and experience in general business practices and administrative procedures, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Salary: $39.88 to $41 per hour (casual loading included) plus 12% superannuation
