Grounds maintenance person

About the role

GMHS is seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Person to join our team in Melbourne VIC 3000. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to maintain and enhance outdoor spaces through professional grounds care and landscaping expertise. You will play a vital role in ensuring our properties remain aesthetically pleasing, safe and well-maintained for all users. This role is based on-site in Melbourne and requires a hands-on approach to daily grounds management tasks.

What you'll be doing

• Performing regular lawn mowing, edging and grass maintenance across assigned grounds areas

• Undertaking garden bed maintenance, including weeding, mulching and seasonal planting

• Trimming, pruning and shaping hedges, shrubs and trees in accordance with horticultural best practice

• Operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment and machinery safely and effectively

• Clearing and removing garden waste, leaves and debris from outdoor spaces

• Maintaining pathways, driveways and outdoor surfaces, including pressure washing where required

• Inspecting grounds for hazards, damage or maintenance issues and reporting these promptly

• Following health and safety protocols and environmental best practice standards

• Supporting landscaping projects and seasonal grounds improvements as needed

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in grounds maintenance, gardening or landscaping roles

• Competency in operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment, including lawn mowers, brush cutters and leaf blowers

• Sound knowledge of plant care, horticulture and seasonal maintenance practices

• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour regularly and safely

• A strong commitment to health and safety standards on worksites

• Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of work delivered

• Reliability and strong time management skills

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• A valid driver's license (preferred)

• Relevant qualifications or certifications in grounds maintenance or horticulture (advantageous)
