BARISTA/ BAR PERSON

About the role

Zebra Lounge is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista/Bar Person to join our dynamic hospitality team in Pyrmont, NSW. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst delivering exceptional service to our valued guests. In this role, you will be the face of our establishment, crafting quality beverages and providing memorable experiences to every customer who walks through our doors. You will work in a fast-paced, vibrant environment where your passion for hospitality and attention to detail truly matter.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based coffee drinks, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages

• Operate and maintain coffee machines, espresso equipment, and bar tools to the highest standards

• Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing recommendations based on customer preferences

• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic work environment in accordance with food safety and health regulations

• Stock and replenish bar supplies, ingredients and equipment throughout shifts

• Handle cash and electronic payments accurately, reconciling registers as required

• Provide exceptional customer service, building rapport with guests and ensuring their satisfaction

• Follow Zebra Lounge's operating procedures, recipes and presentation standards consistently

• Assist with basic food preparation tasks when required

• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth service during busy periods

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Barista, Bar Person or in a similar hospitality role

• Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods, espresso machines and milk frothing techniques

• Familiarity with bar operations, cocktail preparation and responsible alcohol service

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure environments

• Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards

• Fast-paced, efficient work style with strong organisational skills

• RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification, or willingness to obtain it

• Barista certification or coffee training is highly desirable

• Reliability and flexibility to work casual shifts, including evenings and weekends

• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating positive guest experiences
