ACEnergy is a Melbourne-based renewable energy developer specialising in utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). As we continue to grow our national footprint — particularly across Victoria — we work closely with landowners, investors, and local communities to deliver renewable energy projects that are locally supported, economically sound, and environmentally responsible.

We’re now seeking a passionate and capable Project Development Officer to join our expanding Development Team. This is a full-time role offering the opportunity to work on nationally significant renewable energy projects from early concept through to construction-ready delivery.

About the Role

As a key member of the ACEnergy Development Team, this is a business development-focused role at the heart of our project origination efforts - you'll be the face of ACEnergy to landowners across our national portfolio of renewable energy projects, building the relationships that make new projects possible from the ground up.

Reporting to the Origination Manager, your day-to-day will center on engaging directly with landowners - identifying and approaching prospective sites, building trust, negotiating land agreements, and maintaining those relationships through the life of a project. Alongside this, you'll help progress projects from early-stage development through to financial close, coordinating specialist consultants, managing budgets and timelines, and supporting approvals to deliver financeable, construction-ready projects.

You'll play an important role in strengthening ACEnergy's presence in the Australian renewable energy market - this role is as much about relationship-building and business development as it is about project execution.

Location:
This role can be based in Victoria (remote) as we grow our Victorian presence, or Camberwell, VIC.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead landowner engagement - proactively identifying and approaching landowners, building rapport, and negotiating site agreements as a core, ongoing part of the role

• Support business development initiatives by enhancing ACEnergy's profile within the National Electricity Market (NEM)

• Assist in early-stage development of utility-scale solar and BESS projects, from concept to construction-ready status

• Assist the Origination Manager in executing development strategies across a national project portfolio

• Support planning and project approvals by engaging with State and Federal Government agencies

• Coordinate and manage specialist consultants (environmental, planning, engineering, grid, etc.) to achieve project milestones

• Support preparation and submission of planning and development applications in line with regulatory requirements

• Assist with grid connection processes, including grid studies and coordination with network service providers

• Track and manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure efficient project progression

• Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with landowners, alongside government bodies, councils, and local communities

• Ensure all development activities align with internal governance, legal obligations, and industry standards

What You’ll Bring

• Background in renewable energy, project development, or a related field

• Experience in the development of utility-scale solar and/or BESS projects (highly regarded)

• Strong understanding of development and approval processes from pre-enquiry through to final offer

• Excellent communication and influencing skills to support negotiations and stakeholder engagement

• Solid project coordination and time-management capabilities

• Experience preparing project briefs, assessing consultant submissions, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams

• Passion for stakeholder engagement and community outcomes

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

• Victorian-based (or planning to be), or Melbourne-based in Camberwell
