Swan Hill District Health is seeking 1 or 2 enthusiastic and compassionate Activity Leaders to support our Social Support Groups program for older adults living in the community.

The Position

This rewarding role involves facilitating engaging social and recreational activities that promote connection, independence, wellbeing, and community participation.

These positions include a full-day shift on Thursdays and a Wednesday afternoon social group, with the Wednesday session requiring the ability to communicate conversationally in Italian. Fluency is not essential, but applicants must be comfortable engaging socially with participants in Italian.

Up to 30 hours per fortnight available.

There may also be opportunities for additional casual hours across the program.

You Bring

• Experience supporting older adults, people living with disability, or individuals accessing community-based services.

• Passion to promote social connections, wellbeing, and positive ageing.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

• Qualifications or training in Leisure & Lifestyle, Community Services, Aged Care, or a related field (desirable).

• WEDNESDAY SHIFT ONLY: Can communicate conversationally in Italian to support participants attending our Wednesday afternoon Italian social group, including playing Briscola and Bingo in Italian. Can be weekly or fortnightly shifts.

Key Responsibilities

·         Plan and facilitate a variety of enjoyable group activities that support social engagement, recreation, and wellbeing.

·         Encourage and assist participants to engage in social support groups and activities that align with their interests and goals.

·         Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.

·         Foster social connections and enhance quality of life through meaningful group experiences.

·         Support participants during outings, events, and community-based activities.

Mandatory requirements

·        Current National Police Check, or will to obtain.

·        Working with Children’s Check, or will to obtain.

·        NDIS worker screening check, or will to obtain.

·        Evidence of immunisation records/history as part of the Health Services Act 1988, 2020 Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers).
