Freight Delivery Coordinator - Goondiwindi

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, organised and safety-focused Freight Delivery Coordinator to manage our day-to-day freight delivery operations.

This is a hands-on role responsible for coordinating drivers, vehicles and freight movements to ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator and practical problem-solver who can manage competing priorities while supporting drivers and maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule deliveries and allocate daily work to drivers

• Plan efficient delivery routes and coordinate drivers, vehicles and freight

• Monitor deliveries and respond promptly to delays, breakdowns and failed deliveries

• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, drivers and management

• Respond to freight enquiries and customer queries

• Maintain accurate manifests, delivery records, timesheets and proof-of-delivery documentation

• Use transport-management systems, GPS tracking and electronic PDA devices

• Monitor driver availability, licences, inductions and compliance requirements

• Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs and replacement vehicles when required

• Support and coach drivers through effective leadership and on-the-job training

• Assist with deliveries and other operational duties when required

• Identify workplace hazards and ensure incidents are reported appropriately

• Prepare operational reports and escalate significant issues to management

• Help maintain a clean, safe and professional workplace

About You

To succeed in this position, you will have:

• A current HR driver licence or higher and a safe driving record

• Previous experience in freight delivery, transport coordination, dispatch or a similar role

• Strong scheduling, route-planning and organisational skills

• A practical understanding of Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and load-restraint requirements

• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety obligations

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

• Clear written and verbal communication

• Good computer skills and confidence using electronic transport systems and PDA devices

• The ability to remain calm and make practical decisions under pressure

• Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills

• A reliable, responsible and hands-on approach

• Pride in maintaining a clean, safe and productive workplace

A forklift licence and relevant crane or dangerous-goods qualifications will be highly regarded.
