About the Data Unit

The Data Unit is an interdisciplinary team focused on improving how the public sector uses evidence to make better decisions and policy. We work collaboratively with a broad range of agencies to address complex social, health, environmental and economic challenges facing Western Australia. Our work supports better strategy, operations and service delivery across government.

About the Role

This is an engaging and varied job that works across agencies, assists with ever changing problems, where you might show up to work in different offices.

As part of this role, you will:

• Deliver AI technology solutions that solve government problems and have measurable outcomes,
• Provide provides technical expertise and strategic advice to many different audiences, and
• Solve real world problems by getting to their root and advising whether the solution lies in technology, process, governance, or policy.

We are looking for people with experience in AI, data engineering or technology. You don’t need years of experience behind you, but you do need to be curious and adaptable, with solid technical foundations and the appetite to keep building and learning.

You will join a talented interdisciplinary team with data, technical and policy expertise that will support you to build your capability and succeed in the role.
