About the role
About the role
As Workshop Controller at Melbourne City Lexus, you will play a key role in coordinating the day-to-day operations of our workshop, supporting our technicians and ensuring every vehicle is completed to the highest standards of quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for effectively managing workshop workflow, allocating work to technicians and ensuring vehicles move through the workshop efficiently and on schedule. You will work closely with our Service Advisors, Technicians and Parts team to ensure a seamless experience for our customers and a productive environment for our workshop team.
Key responsibilities
Control and coordinate the daily workshop workflow
Allocate repair and servicing jobs to technicians based on skills, capacity and workload
Monitor job progress, productivity and workshop efficiency
Ensure vehicles are completed within agreed timeframes and to Lexus quality standards
Support technicians with technical and workflow-related issues
Liaise closely with Service Advisors regarding job progress, additional work and completion times
Conduct quality control checks and ensure vehicles are ready for customer collection
Assist with diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues where required
Maintain high standards of workshop safety, housekeeping and compliance
Support the Service Manager in achieving departmental performance targets
About you
Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, Leading Hand or Senior Technician
Strong automotive technical knowledge and diagnostic ability
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
The ability to confidently manage competing priorities in a busy workshop
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A genuine commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
Leadership capability and the ability to motivate and support a team
A current Australian driver's licence
Relevant automotive trade qualifications
Experience within a premium automotive dealership environment will be highly regarded
