About the role
Role Description The Procurement Specialist / Vendor Manager is a part-time, remote role responsible for managing procurement processes and vendor relationships that support IICA’s programs and operations in Colombia. Day-to-day tasks include identifying and sourcing suppliers, requesting and evaluating quotations, and ensuring procurement activities comply with internal policies and applicable regulations. The role involves negotiating contracts, monitoring vendor performance, and maintaining accurate records of agreements and purchase orders. The specialist collaborates with program and administrative teams to understand purchasing needs, optimize costs, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. The position also requires regular analysis of procurement data to improve efficiency, mitigate risks, and support transparent, accountable use of resources.QualificationsCandidates should possess strong Procurement skills, including supplier sourcing, purchasing processes, and familiarity with procurement policies and procedures.Candidates should possess Contract Negotiation and Contract Management skills to draft, review, and administer agreements with vendors and service providers.Candidates should possess Analytical Skills to evaluate bids, analyze costs, assess vendor performance, and support data-driven decision-making.Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, interact with vendors, and prepare clear reports and documentation.Relevant qualifications include experience in procurement or vendor management, preferably in international development, agriculture, or nonprofit sectors.Additional desirable qualifications include knowledge of Colombian procurement regulations, proficiency with procurement or ERP systems, and strong organizational and time management abilities.A bachelor’s degree in Business, Administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.Ability to work independently in a remote setting, uphold ethical standards, and communicate fluently in Spanish; English proficiency is an asset.
