Excavator Operator

About the role

DE Plant Hire is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Beresfield, NSW 2322, this role is central to our operations, where you will operate heavy excavation machinery to deliver essential earthmoving services to our clients. As an Excavator Operator, you will play a crucial part in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Your expertise and precision will directly contribute to the success of our construction and earthmoving projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators and related plant machinery safely and efficiently on various construction and earthmoving sites

• Perform routine pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on excavation equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance

• Excavate, load and move earth, rock, sand, and other materials in accordance with project specifications and site plans

• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, engineers and other team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards

• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, hours worked and materials moved

• Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following site protocols

• Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and communicate any issues to management for timely repairs

• Operate equipment in varying weather and ground conditions whilst maintaining safety and precision

What we're looking for

• Valid VOC/SOA (or equivalent qualifications demonstrating excavator operation competency)

• Minimum 2-3 years' proven experience operating excavators on construction or earthmoving sites

• Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to plant and machinery operations

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a site team

• Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Reliability, punctuality and a strong commitment to workplace safety

• A valid driver's licence

• Experience with GPS-guided excavation systems or site management software
