About the opportunity

NSW SES is seeking two highly organised and collaborative Senior Project Officers to support the delivery of strategic priority initiatives across two teams within the agency’s delivery portfolio. 

The two roles are: 

• Enterprise Technology team – supports planning, coordination and delivery of enterprise technology initiatives, including roadmap, governance and priority delivery activities. 

• Professional Standards team – supports planning, coordination and delivery of professional standards initiatives that strengthen systems, processes, capability and culture. 

In this role, you will work closely with business leaders, project teams and key stakeholders to coordinate multiple concurrent technology or professional standards initiatives, manage dependencies, identify delivery risks and support effective planning and decision-making. You will play a key role in translating complex technical and operational information into clear advice, helping teams understand priorities, resolve issues and deliver outcomes aligned to organisational objectives and the agency’s delivery plan.

Key challenges include facilitating appropriate input, consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders including volunteers, managing within agreed timelines, and across their varying expectations, viewpoints and interests.

This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports NSW SES volunteers and staff by helping deliver technology or people and culture solutions that strengthen operational capability, improve coordination and enable better service delivery to communities across NSW.

You will bring strong project coordination experience, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work confidently in a complex, fast-paced environment where priorities, dependencies and delivery requirements can shift quickly.

About you

To be successful in these roles you will:

• Demonstrate experience coordinating and supporting the delivery of complex technology, digital, ICT, organisational culture/professional standards or business transformation initiatives.
• Manage multiple priorities, dependencies and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on agreed outcomes.
• Communicate clearly and confidently, with the ability to translate complex technical and operational information into practical advice for a range of audiences.
• Build strong working relationships across business, ICT, project teams, vendors and senior stakeholders to support collaboration and delivery.
• Be confident identifying risks, issues, blockers and interdependencies, and can support timely escalation and resolution.
• Bring strong project management discipline, including planning, reporting, governance, monitoring and evaluation.
• Use sound judgement, evidence and analysis to support decision-making and develop practical recommendations.
• Be adaptable and resilient, with the ability to respond constructively to changing priorities, ambiguity and emerging technology needs.
• Understand the importance of delivering technology solutions that support operational capability, volunteers, staff and community outcomes.
• Be comfortable working in a geographically dispersed, volunteer-based emergency service environment, or is willing to build knowledge of this context quickly.
