We are seeking two friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Library & Museum Assistants - Customer Engagement to join our Library and Museum team. As key members of our team, you will support the delivery of library and museum services, assist customers with a wide range of enquiries, and help create a welcoming and engaging space for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
About the Role
Reporting to the Specialist Library and Museum Hub, Customer Engagement, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of library and museum services while delivering outstanding frontline customer service.
Key responsibilities, but not limited to:
Providing exceptional customer service and assisting visitors with enquiries relating to library and museum services, facilities and resources.
Processing memberships, loans, returns, reservations, payments and retail transactions accurately.
Supporting customers with research enquiries, information requests and basic technology assistance.
Maintaining library and museum collections, shelving, displays, retail areas and public spaces to a high standard.
Assisting with daily operational, administrative, opening and closing activities to ensure services run smoothly.
Collaborating with colleagues to support service delivery, continuous improvement, and positive community outcomes.
About You
You will be passionate customer service professionals who enjoy connecting people with information, history, culture and community. You thrive in a public facing environment, take pride in delivering exceptional service, and enjoy helping people of all ages and backgrounds access resources, services and experiences.
You are organised, adaptable and approachable with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to creating positive customer interactions. Whether assisting a customer with a research enquiry, helping someone navigate technology, or ensuring collections and displays are presented to a high standard, you will bring enthusiasm, initiative and attention to detail to everything you do.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Exceptional customer service and people skills, in a library, museum, visitor services or customer-focused environment with a diverse range of people.
Well-developed research skills with strong organisational, administrative and problem-solving abilities.
Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and other computerised systems, including databases, library management systems or point-of-sale systems.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Initiative, sound judgement and a commitment to delivering high-quality services to the community.
