Tangentyere Family Support Service delivers early intervention, and prevention supports for Aboriginal families in Alice Springs, focusing on the wellbeing and best interests of children aged 0–18. The program offers culturally safe, trauma-informed case management tailored to each family's unique circumstances.
Using a goal-oriented, family-focused approach, the service supports families to create safe and nurturing environments for children. Through coordinated case planning and support, it aims to strengthen parenting capacity, build resilience, and promote long-term positive outcomes.
Taking direction from the Child & Family Practitioners, the Family Support Worker provides assertive outreach and task-based assistance to empower families to reach their goals. The role focuses on building parenting skills and strengthening relationships while increasing family capacity to address safety concerns and protect children from harm.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role and highly supports growth and development of skills and training within relevant areas such as case support, administration, and trauma-informed practice. The successful candidate will be a motivated professional with good communication skills and has a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable families. The successful candidate will have some experience in community engagement and a proven ability to work in a culturally safe manner. Understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal languages is highly regarded.
As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
