SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT & QUALITY LEAD – Berkeley Vale NSW
· Enjoy a permanent full-time role with a 9-day fortnight
· Lead supplier quality across local and international manufacturing partners
· Combine hands-on fabrication expertise with commercial influence
· Join an established Australian engineering and manufacturing business
THE COMPANY
HMA Wear Solutions is part of the HMA Group, an international engineering and manufacturing business supporting the mining, mineral processing, power generation and process industries.
For more than 40 years, we have supplied and manufactured specialised ceramic wear-resistant linings, systems and material-handling solutions for customers across Australia and international markets.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a hands-on Supplier Development & Quality Lead to strengthen the capability, quality and commercial performance of our local and overseas suppliers and subcontractors.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of supplier development, technical quality assurance, performance improvement and commercial outcomes. Your focus will be ensuring externally supplied goods and services are safe, compliant, delivered on time and provide strong value for the business and our customers.
This is an influential role for someone equally comfortable reviewing engineering drawings and inspecting fabrication in a workshop as they are negotiating commercial terms, analysing supplier performance and working across internal teams to resolve issues.
Based at our NSW branch in Berkeley Vale and reporting to the Operations Manager your key responsibilities will include:
Conduct supplier audits, inspections and capability assessments across local and overseas vendors.
Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, quality plans, client requirements and applicable standards.
Inspect welding, dimensions, material traceability, coatings, linings, packaging and dispatch readiness.
Manage supplier non-conformances, investigations and corrective actions through to effective close-out.
Evaluate quotations and proposals for technical compliance, commercial risk and whole-of-life value.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, Incoterms, rebates and supply agreements.
Manage assigned procurement activities from sourcing and purchase order through expediting, logistics, delivery and supplier review.
Maintain supplier scorecards and drive improvements in quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness and capability.
Work closely with Operations, Production, Quality and Sales teams to resolve issues and protect customer commitments.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful candidates will have the following skills and attributes:
Trade qualification in boilermaking, fabrication, welding, mechanical fitting or a related discipline.
At least five years’ experience in fabrication, manufacturing or heavy industry.
Demonstrated experience in supplier assessment, quality inspection and outsourced manufacturing.
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
Commercial acumen and experience in sourcing, procurement or supplier negotiations.
Sound knowledge of fabrication, welding and QA/QC practices.
Strong analytical, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Confidence using ERP/CRM systems, Microsoft Office and procurement reporting tools.
Willingness and ability to travel interstate and overseas.
Qualifications or experience in welding inspection, welding supervision, quality assurance, lead auditing, mining, mineral processing, wear solutions or international logistics will be highly regarded.
