As a Technical Champion for Data Engineering and Reporting, you'll play a key role in advancing IAG's data and analytics capabilities. Combining deep technical expertise, business acumen and strong stakeholder engagement, you'll drive the consumption and activation of data products by translating business needs into impactful solutions. Starting with Tableau and extending to advanced analytics and AI, you'll shorten the journey from data to insight and action, while demonstrating the art of possible to the business.
You'll lead the development and optimisation of scalable data pipelines that power a range of products and operational environments. Leveraging your expertise in SQL, DBT, Tableau, and AI, you'll drive innovation, improve efficiency, and ensure data solutions are robust, future-focused, and aligned with IAG's strategic goals.
What You’ll Do
Develop and optimise scalable data solutions using SQL, DBT, APIs, and modern engineering practices.
Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines and products that support business and operational needs.
Drive the consumption and activation of data products through Tableau, advanced analytics, AI and emerging approaches that shorten the journey from data to insight and action.
Partner with stakeholders to identify business opportunities, translate needs into effective data solutions, and demonstrate the art of possible through innovative use cases and experiences.
Lead solution design and technical delivery, developing innovative and scalable approaches to complex challenges.
Drive code quality, testing, and data governance through best practices, reviews, and validation processes.
Enhance platform performance and efficiency through observability, automation, AI, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor team members, champion knowledge sharing, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
This is a permanent role and offer a flexible hybrid work model based ideally on the East Coast of Australia.
What You’ll Bring
• Minimum of 5 years in data engineering, with demonstrated expertise in managing complex, large-scale data products.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, DBT and Tableau, with experience applying advanced analytics, AI and emerging technologies to data activation and consumption. Extensive experience building and optimising data pipelines, dashboards and automated data processes, with familiarity across database management systems and cloud data services.
• Demonstrated business acumen and experience partnering with stakeholders to identify opportunities, translate business needs into innovative data solutions, and drive adoption and measurable value from data products. Experience with Customer 360 or other customer-centric data solutions is highly regarded.
• Exceptional analytical abilities with a strong aptitude for troubleshooting complex technical issues, optimising data operations, and devising innovative solutions to challenging problems.
• Proficient leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor and lead teams. Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and effectively coordinating between diverse teams.
