About the role
Capstone Civil Group is a collaborative, reliable and commercially focused civil and remediation company specialising in civil engineering, hazardous material remediation, project management and contractor solutions for earthworks, roads, concreting and remediation. We are a proud Indigenous-owned business dedicated to working closely with our clients, delivering vital projects safely and on time, and building long-term relationships through successful outcomes and infrastructure that is built to last. Our core services include civil contracting and the identification, removal, management and validation of hazardous materials.
We currently have an opportunity for experienced Asbestos Removalists to join our team based in Canberra, with projects undertaken across the ACT and NSW.
Key responsibilities include:
ASBESTOS REMOVALIST:
Support the safe and successful delivery of asbestos and hazardous-material remediation projects in accordance with project requirements, legislation, codes of practice and company procedures.
Establish and maintain asbestos removal work areas, including barricades, signage, decontamination facilities and containment systems.
Remove bonded and/or friable asbestos-containing materials within the scope of your current asbestos removal licence and training.
Correctly use, inspect and maintain respiratory protective equipment, personal protective equipment and asbestos removal tools.
Apply appropriate wet removal, shadow vacuuming, enclosure and dust-control methods to minimise fibre release.
Decontaminate personnel, tools, plant and work areas in accordance with approved procedures.
Package, label, transport and dispose of asbestos waste at authorised facilities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Follow the asbestos removal control plan, safe work method statements, supervisor directions and site-specific requirements.
Immediately report hazards, incidents, damaged containment, suspected additional asbestos or changes in site conditions.
Complete required site, removal, waste and decontamination records accurately and promptly.
You will have suitable experience in a similar role, along with the following skills:
Current Class A or Class B asbestos removal licence, relevant to the work being undertaken
Construction Industry White Card and any other required site licences or competencies
Demonstrated experience undertaking asbestos or hazardous-material removal work
Sound understanding of asbestos hazards, containment, decontamination and waste-handling requirements
Ability to follow instructions, control measures and safe work procedures consistently
Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
Strong attention to detail, time management and communication skills
Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role and wear respiratory protective equipment
