Hours: Monday-Friday opening hours 8am-430pm
We are a friendly and professional ophthalmology practice seeking a Casual Ophthalmology Technician / Medical Receptionist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient interaction, works well in a medical environment, and is keen to learn.
About the RoleThis is a dual role combining front-desk reception duties with clinical support for our ophthalmologists and optometrists. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key ResponsibilitiesWelcoming patients and managing appointments
Answering phone calls and handling enquiries
Patient billing, payments, and Medicare/private health claims
Assisting with ophthalmic testing (e.g. visual acuity, OCT, visual fields – training provided)
Preparing patients for consultations
Maintaining accurate patient records
General administrative and clinic support duties
Friendly, professional, and well-presented
Strong communication and customer service skills
Comfortable working with patients of all ages
Good computer and organisational skills
Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment
Reliable and a team player
Experience in a medical or allied health practice
Previous receptionist or customer service experience
Experience with ophthalmic testing (e.g. visual acuity, OCT, visual fields)
Interest in healthcare or eye health
Experience with medical software (Xestro – if applicable)
Supportive and welcoming team environment
On-the-job training in ophthalmology
Flexible casual hours
