Our client is an Australian owned and operated Public Practice Accountancy and advisory firm with a strong reputation, based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. 

They are committed to providing accountancy services for clients who sit across many industries.  Being a smaller firm, they offer increased flexibility as well as exposure to broader aspects and tasks of accounting.

THE ROLE

You will be looking after your own group of clients and working with the Director and staff as part of a cohesive team.  You will be actively involved in the full spectrum of business services – including financial accounts preparation and interpretation, research and advice, preparation of all tax requirements and generally providing support to clients in the financial management of their businesses.

● Prepare income tax returns and taxation reports for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships

● Prepare financial statements, tax workpapers and supporting schedules

● Prepare and review BAS, IAS and GST workpapers and related compliance matters

● Research taxation issues and provide advice on tax implications for clients

● Assist with tax planning, year-end tax compliance and business advisory matters

● Liaise with clients, the Australian Taxation Office and other relevant parties regarding tax and compliance matters

● Assist in responding to ATO reviews, queries and taxation disputes

● Maintain accurate client records and complete work within deadlines

● Use Xero and related accounting and tax software in the delivery of client work

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

● Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related field

● Relevant experience in Australian public practice accounting

● Strong experience in Australian taxation compliance and business services

● Knowledge of Australian income tax, GST, BAS and general compliance requirements

● Experience using Xero and accounting and tax software

● Strong written and verbal communication skills

● Ability to manage multiple jobs and work to deadlines

● Positive attitude, initiative and strong attention to detail

● Progress toward or completion of CA or CPA

● Experience dealing directly with clients in a professional services environment
