Martel Wheatley is a growing accounting and advisory firm based in Dubbo. We work with businesses, primary producers, individuals and SMSFs across regional Australia.

We are seeking enthusiastic Gap Year Assistants to join our team from late 2026 or early 2027. No accounting experience is required. We provide full training and ongoing support, making this an excellent opportunity for school leavers looking to gain real workplace experience and develop professional skills.

We recognise that a gap year is often a stepping stone to university, travel or other career opportunities. This role is designed to help you develop valuable workplace skills, build confidence and gain real-world experience before taking your next step.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the preparation of income tax returns and client records

• Bookkeeping and data processing for clients

• Assisting with business reporting requirements

• Helping our team deliver exceptional service to clients

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has recently completed Year 12 (or will do so 2026 year)

• Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Is organised and reliable

• Has strong communication skills

• Enjoys working as part of a team

• Has good attention to detail

• Is comfortable using technology and Microsoft Office products

No previous experience is necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know.
