Estimator / Commercial Coordinator

Stella Engineering is an AS9100-certified precision manufacturing business servicing the defence, aerospace, mining, medical and industrial sectors. We provide CNC machining, surface treatments, assembly and testing services to some of Australia's leading defence and technology organisations.

With significant ongoing investment in new manufacturing capabilities, including a fully automated anodising facility, expanded metrology capabilities and continued growth within the Australian defence industry, we are seeking an organised and commercially minded Estimator / Commercial Coordinator to join our team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in managing Stella's quotation process and supporting commercial activities across the business.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with technical information, engineering drawings and manufacturing processes while supporting business growth through accurate and timely quotations.

You will become the central point for RFQ administration, quote preparation and commercial coordination, allowing senior leaders to focus on customer engagement and strategic growth initiatives.

• Review and process incoming RFQs

• Prepare accurate quotations for CNC machining, fabrication, coatings and assembly work

• Collect supplier pricing and subcontractor costs

• Generate costing models and estimate manufacturing hours

• Prepare customer proposals and supporting documentation

• Maintain quotation registers and CRM records

• Follow up outstanding quotations with customers

• Assist with tender submissions and defence industry opportunities

• Support ERP data management and commercial reporting

• Work closely with Operations, Production, Engineering and Business Development teams

• Australian Citizenship

• Strong organisational and administrative skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• High level of attention to detail

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• Ability to interpret technical information and engineering drawings

• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities

• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or defence industries

• CNC machining knowledge

• Estimating or production planning experience

• ERP/MRP system experience

• Purchasing or supply chain experience

• Defence industry exposure

• Capability/willingness of achieving a defence security clearance.

• RFQs are processed quickly and accurately

• Quotation turnaround times improve

• Customer follow-up is consistent and professional

• Costing accuracy continues to improve

• Commercial data is maintained and readily available
