Mechanical Fitter (Night Shift)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Fitter within the Maintenance Services Mechanical Team. The Department provides essential engineering and maintenance support services on the CSL Behring Broadmeadows site. This includes providing support to manufacturing facilities for fractionation of human plasma into pharmaceutical products.

CSL Behring (Broadmeadows) is undergoing extensive and positive change as we expand our capability and capacity. In addition to contributing to Australia’s export economy, CSL has invested in substantial new manufacturing facilities at Broadmeadows that will provide Australia with further high skills science and manufacturing employment opportunities and strengthen capabilities to develop and commercialise future new medicines onshore in Australia.

This is a permanent 12hr night shift role (6:00pm – 6:00am).

The Role

Reporting To The Maintenance Engineer - Bulk You Will Possess Experience Conducting Preventative Maintenance Tasks, Inspections, Corrective And Breakdown Maintenance On Process, Plant And Equipment. This Includes

Demonstrated experience maintaining and overhauling a wide range of equipment, including rotary lobe, centrifugal, liquid ring and diaphragm pumps, vessel agitators, heat exchangers, and valves.Proven hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance experience.Experience working on steam and condensate systems, including pressure reducing valves and steam traps.Competent in confined space entry procedures, including tank inspections and maintenance activities.Proficient in welding repairs and fabrication, with demonstrated TIG stainless steel welding experience.Ability to deliver general maintenance solutions that improve plant equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with sound knowledge of GMP principles in pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environments.Strong commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental standards, with flexibility to support shutdowns and changing operational requirements.

To be successful

Mechanical Trade Certificate III, Indentured Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent trade qualification.Highly motivated, reliable, and proactive, with strong initiative in solving mechanical issues within process and plant environments.Proven ability to work autonomously and manage tasks independently.Experience working in regulated/GMP environments, with an understanding of strict hygiene, compliance, and traceability standards.Confined space certification is advantageous, though training can be provided.
