Accountant

About the role

The Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, reporting to the Senior Manager – Finance & Business Systems and Finance Officer. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing accounting and reconciliation activities, supporting month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and monitoring Support at Home funding and claims. The Accountant will also provide guidance to the Finance Officers and assist with the implementation, transition and rollout of new finance and business systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records

• Complete bank, balance sheet, payroll, AP and AR reconciliations

• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and month-end adjustments

• Assist with monthly management and Board reporting

• Review and process supplier and service provider invoices

• Monitor client accounts, payments, contributions and outstanding balances

• Reconcile Support at Home funding, claims, remittances and payments

• Assist with annual budget preparation and budget-to-actual reporting

• Support the implementation and rollout of new finance and business systems

• Ensure transactions are appropriately approved, coded and supported

About you

• Accounting or finance qualification, CA or CPA highly desirable

• Experience in Aged Care or Support at Home highly regarded but not essential

• Strong knowledge of accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes

• Experience with AP, AR and payroll accounting

• Strong Excel and accounting system skills

• Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
