The opportunity

The Program Manager supports the Environment & Sustainability Manager and leads the delivery of key programs in Water by Design under erosion sediment control, storm water engineering, capacity building, and the sustainable development space. The role provides day-to-day program management including project accountability, technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership including coaching, and mentoring team members to ensure delivery of high-quality outcomes for clients, funding partners, and the broader community. This is a full-time max-term contract role for 9 months, however part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of assigned programs and projects to achieve strategic, contractual, and operational objectives.
• Developing and overseeing program plans, schedules, budgets, resource allocations, and reporting frameworks to ensure successful delivery of outcomes.
• Coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and resources to deliver agreed work packages in accordance with client requirements, contractual obligations, and organisational priorities.
• Monitoring program performance, risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing appropriate mitigation and corrective actions where required.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with local government, developers, consultants, industry bodies and other key stakeholders to support successful program outcomes and program growth.
• Translating stakeholder needs into targeted projects, events, training, resources and services.
• Ensuring stakeholders receive timely communication regarding program progress, outcomes, and emerging issues.
• Providing professional leadership and subject matter expertise to support high-quality program outcomes and continuous improvement.
• Applying specialist scientific, environmental, engineering, or program management expertise to guide project delivery and solve complex operational challenges.
• Preparing and reviewing high-quality reports, proposals, tenders, presentations, and technical documentation.

About you

Ideally, you will share our vision to lead the change that will deliver an environment for future generations to thrive. To be successful in this role, you will have all or many of the following requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering, Environment, Business, or relevant field
• Demonstrated experience managing complex programs or projects from planning through to delivery, preferably over multi-years
• Experience managing stakeholder relationships across government, industry, research organisations, and community groups
• Excellent understanding of project management processes, strategies, and methods
• Experience in natural resource management, sustainability, science, infrastructure, environment, or related sector
• Ability to motivate and influence team members to ensure all deliverables are met and performed to a high standard
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong business and financial acumen with an ability to understand wider business operations
