At Metcash Food, we’re passionate about backing the independent retailers who are at the heart of communities across Australia and New Zealand. Supporting more than 1,600 independently owned stores, our role is to help retailers be at their best — and that’s where you come in.

As Retail Excellence Manager, you’ll be the person connecting strategy with execution. You’ll make sure the right people, resources and priorities are in the right place at the right time, helping stores deliver great customer experiences and strong retail standards.

In this Role, You Will:

• Turn strategy into action — translate customer segmentation, JBPs and store plans into smart workforce and resource plans.
• Optimise for impact — manage schedules, routes and priorities, balancing customer needs with state and national business priorities.
• Drive retail excellence — lead the planning and execution of Channel Standards, Operational Excellence Programs and Food Safety Audits.
• Spot what others might miss — use data, store insights and performance trends to identify risks, opportunities and systemic issues.
• Connect the dots — partner with Account Management, Merchandise, Operations and national teams to turn insights into better execution and outcomes.
• Leading initiatives that build stronger retail capability and performance across the independent network.

You’ll bring:

• Strong experience in strategic planning, workforce or resource allocation, ideally within retail, FMCG or a customer-facing environment.
• A commercially minded and analytical approach, with the ability to prioritise based on customer and business impact.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence working across state and national teams.
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to bring people together, navigate change and get things done.
• A genuine understanding of retailers, shoppers and what makes great store execution.
