Boeing Defence Australia is delivering critical defence capability across Australia and New Zealand through innovative engineering and trusted technical support.
Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer to join the C-17A Globemaster III team based at RAAF Base Amberley.
This is a unique opportunity to support the sustainment of the C-17A Globemaster III fleet and directly contribute to Australia's Defence capability.
In this role, you will provide hands-on engineering support across operational bases, helping to keep the aircraft safe, available, and mission ready. You will work closely with pilots, loadmasters, maintainers, logistics teams, and leadership, while contributing to technical problem-solving, investigations, and continuous improvement across the program.
This is a global support role that offers the opportunity for international travel and collaboration with other Boeing sites, along with access to further training and development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
As an Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineer, you will:
Provide on-site sustaining engineering support across all C-17 operational basesSupport on-ground and in-flight troubleshooting activitiesAssist with safety and mishap investigationsSupport FMS field engineering alerts, in-service evaluations, and exercises as requiredConduct engineering analysis and development, review, and/or approve engineering dispositionsSupport engineering investigations and other technical activities across the sustainment programPrepare engineering documentation, reports, analyses, and technical recommendationsReview and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical dataCollaborate with internal stakeholders, Defence personnel, OEM teams, and maintenance partnersProvide direct engineering assistance and on-site engagement to pilots, loadmasters, maintainers, and base logistics personnel, including leadershipParticipate in customer and program-level technical interchange meetings, engagement forums, and conferencesContribute to airworthiness, safety, configuration management, and continuous improvement activities
Experience/Qualifications:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Essential
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related disciplineDemonstrated experience in an aerospace, defence, sustainment, maintenance, or technical engineering environmentStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess technical issues and develop sound engineering recommendationsExperience reviewing technical data and engineering documentationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technicalA practical, solution-focused approach to problem solvingStrong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality, safety, and compliance
Desirable
Experience supporting military aircraft or in-service sustainment programsKnowledge of aircraft systems, structures, maintenance practices, or airworthiness processesExperience with engineering dispositions, technical investigations, or troubleshooting supportFamiliarity with Defence aviation environments and associated regulatory frameworksExposure to configuration management, reliability engineering, or root cause analysisExperience supporting safety, mishap, or incident investigations
