About the role

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will work alongside individuals to understand their needs, strengths and recovery goals. Your work will include comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, recovery planning, practical psychosocial support, service navigation and therapeutic group programs.

You will support people who may be experiencing emotional distress, suicidal ideation, mental health challenges and complex circumstances involving housing, family violence, substance use, employment or physical health.

No two days will be the same. You may be:

• Conducting trauma-informed biopsychosocial assessments
• Developing and reviewing person-led recovery and support plans
• Providing immediate support to people experiencing acute distress
• Helping participants build confidence, independence and practical life skills
• Connecting people with clinical, housing, domestic and family violence, employment, financial, AOD and community services
• Supporting applications for the NDIS, Disability Support Pension, social housing or Victim Assist
• Co-facilitating therapeutic and psychosocial groups, such as DBT skills, art therapy or walking groups
• Working alongside Peer Service Guides within the Centre’s welcoming drop-in environment
• Providing outreach support in people’s homes and communities across Redcliffe and the Southern Moreton Bay region
• Collaborating with families, carers, health professionals and community service providers

The Centre provides services across extended hours, and some Saturday work will be required.

About you

You are a thoughtful and compassionate practitioner who can build trust with people experiencing difficult or uncertain circumstances. You bring a clear framework for practice and can balance professional assessment with warm, respectful and practical support.

To be successful, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work or a relevant Allied Health discipline
• Current AASW eligibility or registration with the relevant professional body
• Experience undertaking comprehensive biopsychosocial or psychosocial assessments
• Experience developing recovery plans that help people identify and achieve meaningful goals
• Sound knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based and recovery-oriented practice
• The ability to respond calmly, flexibly and constructively to distress, uncertainty and complexity
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute positively within a multidisciplinary team
• Confidence using client information and data management systems

Experience using outcome measurement tools such as K10+, RAS-DS or CANSAS, or supporting therapeutic and psychosocial groups, will be highly regarded.

Essential practical requirements

The successful applicant will require:

• A current open Queensland driver licence
• Access to a roadworthy and appropriately insured vehicle
• A Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening clearance, or the ability to obtain them
• A satisfactory criminal history check
