Ice Cream Maker

About the role

SMiZE & DREAM is a highly creative ice cream brand built around imagination, surprise, and storytelling.

We are looking for an experienced Ice Cream or Gelato Maker to join our production team and help bring that experience to life every day.

You should already have hands-on professional experience making ice cream or gelato and feel comfortable in a commercial production kitchen. You know your way around the equipment, understand the rhythm of production, and can recognise when a batch looks, feels, or tastes right — and when something may need attention. Because so much of what makes our ice cream special happens beyond the base itself, you should be comfortable making and working with the cookies, brownies, sauces, crunches, swirls, and other components that become part of our flavours.

You will report to and work closely with our Head of Ice Cream Production, helping us produce exceptional ice cream consistently while also contributing to flavour testing, new ideas, and a production operation that continues to evolve.

Key responsibilities

• Produce SMiZE & DREAM ice creams and desserts according to our recipes, standards, and production schedules

• Confidently execute scheduled ice cream production under the direction of the Head of Ice Cream Production

• Prepare the house-made inclusions, sauces, baked components, crunches, and other elements that make our flavours uniquely ours

• Use your experience to recognise when something is not quite right and work to troubleshoot it

• Support flavour testing, product development, and experimentation as we continue creating new products and formats

• Help keep production organised and on track, working with the Head of Ice Cream Production to make sure the right products are ready when and where they are needed

• Support product launches, events, and new production initiatives as SMiZE & DREAM continues to grow and experiment with new formats

• Follow strong food safety, hygiene, allergen, and quality-control practices

• Support other SMiZE & DREAM locations as needed, including transporting and preparing ice cream and toppings, loading specialised serving equipment, checking that products are scooping and performing properly, helping keep the service area and equipment clean and organised, and assisting with on-site troubleshooting

• Pitch in with the wider team when needed, including occasionally helping with scooping or front-of-house service during slower production periods or busy store moments

About you

• Commercial ice cream or gelato production experience is required

• Has real hands-on experience making ice cream and/or gelato professionally

• Understands the fundamentals of frozen dessert production and has worked with commercial batch production equipment

• Is comfortable making and working with inclusions, sauces, ripples, baked components, and other elements used in highly textured ice creams

• Can follow established recipes precisely while also understanding enough about the process to notice when something is off

• Has strong instincts around quality, texture, flavour, and consistency

• Is organised, reliable, and takes real pride in their work

• Understands food safety, hygiene, allergen management, and the importance of a clean and well-run kitchen

• Is comfortable working in a hands-on production environment that may include mornings, weekends, and time in cold areas
