About the role
With Australia now often referred to as the "allergy capital of the world", allergic disease is one of our country's fastest-growing chronic health issues. Join one of Australia's largest collaborations of Specialist Immunologists, Allergists, GP allergists, Allied Health and Nurses at Compass Immunology Clinics Brisbane.
With the landscape of allergic disease and research shifting rapidly, we are looking for a passionate and motivated RN to join our team in this ever-evolving specialty.
This is a permanent part-time opportunity for an AHPRA Authorized Registered Nurse to join our team, up to 4 days a week (potential for early morning shift from 7.00am to evening shift finishing at 8pm). Family friendly hours.
Your uniform and PPE will be provided, and you will receive on the job specialized training in a supportive team environment. The role will initially be primarily situated at the Greenslopes clinic; additional training will then be provided to cover short notice leave at our Grange clinic.
By joining our team, you will be working in an area that is at the forefront of medical advancements, including oral immunotherapies and biological therapies. There will also be opportunities for ongoing Professional Development through peer reviewed e-training, annual conferences and clinical trial updates.
Key responsibilities
Early recognition, escalation and management of a deteriorating patient
Acute Anaphylaxis care
Education and administration for Initiation of Subcutaneous Immunotherapy (SCIT) injections, Monoclonal Antibody (MAB) injections (e.g. Xolair, Dupixent, Humira, Nucala) and Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT)
Administration of Maintenance SCIT Injections and MABs
Drug Allergy Testing (Intradermal Testing/ Subcutaneous provocation/ Oral Drug Provocation)
Oral Food Challenges and Peanut Oral Immunotherapy
Patient/ Carer education for identification and management of:
Anaphylaxis outside a clinic setting
Eczema
Allergic Rhinitis
Asthma
Food and Drug Allergy
Patch Testing
Stock Control
About you
AHPRA Authorized Registered Nurse Paediatric and/or Emergency Department experience highly regarded
Experienced and competent with managing acute medical emergencies including Acute Anaphylaxis
Capable and proficient with thorough clinic assessment of patients from all age groups (infancy through to older age); including the early recognition, escalation and management of deteriorating patients
Autonomous and passionate to provide patient-centric care with attention to detail and excellent time management skills
Effective and timely communication to ensure patient care and safety is maintained as the top priority
Dedicated team player who positively contributes to the work culture and who continuously seeks ways to improve and streamline processes
Approachable, reliable, dependable, and keen to up skill and maintain current best practice clinical care
Flexible with work schedules, including cover for planned annual leave and short notice personal leave
Hold a current driver's license
