About the role
Toys are a serious business
Getting them onto shelves - on time, in full, and safe for the kids who play with them - takes someone who can juggle. That is this role.
About Johnco
At Johnco we are in the business of igniting kids’ imaginations. We source and distribute toys to retailers across Australia, and everything we do is guided by four values: Integrity, Passion, Courage and Respect.
About the role
Reporting to our General Manager, you will be the engine room of our operations. No two days look the same - you will be raising purchase orders in the morning, chasing a container in the afternoon, and running a stock take the next day.
It is a hands-on role with no direct reports, and it touches every part of our business - sales, marketing, finance and the warehouse team. If you are the person who likes making things actually happen, you will enjoy this one.
What you’ll be doing
Raising and tracking purchase orders with our international suppliers, and following them through from confirmation to arrival
Coordinating inbound freight with forwarders and customs brokers, and keeping the business updated on what is landing when
Keeping our inventory accurate - cycle counts, stocktakes, and getting to the bottom of discrepancies with the warehouse team
Reporting on stock position, open orders and inbound shipments so the team can make good calls
Being the go-to person for day-to-day operational questions across the business
Looking after our product safety and compliance documentation, making sure every toy we sell has current testing and certification behind it - full training provided if this is new to you
What you’ll bring
Around 4+ years in an operations, supply chain, purchasing, inventory or logistics coordination role
Confidence working in an ERP system, and solid Excel skills
Experience dealing with international suppliers and inbound freight documentation
Sharp attention to detail - you are the one who spots the number that does not add up
Strong follow-through; you chase things until they are completed successfully
A practical streak, and comfort splitting your week between a desk, warehouse floor or attending a Trade Fair
A relevant qualification is a nice-to-have, however we care more about what you have actually practically achieved
Toys, consumer goods, retail or wholesale distribution experience is a bonus, not a must
No product compliance experience? That is genuinely fine. It is a big part of the role and we are willing to train the right person with or without experience in this area
What’s in it for you
Flexibility that is real - hybrid working with work-from-home days once you are up to speed
A potential path up - this role is our development pathway into an Operations Manager position. You will learn the whole function with an opportunity to step up overtime for the right person
Breadth you will not get in a big business - you will see the full supply chain end to end, not one narrow slice of it
$75,000 - $90,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
A team that backs you - small enough that your contribution is obvious, growing enough to stay interesting
