Transport Officer -Casual 8 hours per week

Our Transport Officer is a key player in our service delivery to the Ingham region. This role focusses on providing safe, professional, courteous transportation and medical courier services for TAIHS clients as required.

This position is also responsible for working in collaboration with the Facilities and Infrastructure team in regard to the general and mechanical maintenance of TAIHS vehicles

Duties & Responsibilities

Our Transport Drivers are an invaluable part of the administration and operations team and succeed in their role by:

• Ensuring the clean, safe, reliable and comfortable transport of passengers/clients to and from
• destinations utilising TAIHS vehicles
• Operating vehicles safely at all times by following the road safety rules and Authorised Driver requirements of Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Queensland.

Transport Officers within TAIHS ensure passenger/client safety during their journey to and from our services by:

• Preparing the vehicle for service, adhering to the passenger run sheet, recording client data, safely transporting passengers/clients to and from destinations and ensuring the vehicle is kept in a state of cleanliness.
• Providing assistance by aiding passengers/clients to get on and off vehicles, loading wheelchairs and walking frames, and providing guidance to clients at various destinations.
• Maintaining safety and compliance by completing daily vehicles inspection records/logbooks and checklists, following safety procedures, and reporting incidents/hazards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Driving record that reflects a safety conscious attitude
• Strong understanding of the Queensland road rules
• Demonstrated understanding of the Workplace Health and Safety risks and requirements associated with transporting passengers/clients
• Ability to read and follow maps/GPS
• Experience in transportation of clients or community groups (desirable)
• Experience using handheld 2-way communication

Required Licenses and Checks

• Ability to pass a National Police Check – no Serious/Criminal/Court Records
• Current Blue Card (Queensland’s Working with Children Check)
• Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
• Maintain required licensing documentation
• Proof of qualifications and current registration (as appropriate) are to be provided prior to commencement of employment
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
• Offer of the position will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process.
