We are:

Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS), a nonprofit providing essential legal support and advocacy for people who have fled persecution to find safety in Australia. We help refugees, people seeking asylum, stateless individuals and those who are displaced. Our vision is of justice and dignity for and with refugees and since 1987, we’ve helped tens of thousands of people secure protection in Australia.

RACS provides free, dedicated legal services to people seeking asylum and refugees. Through individual advice sessions, community education and public advocacy, RACS strives to ensure that individuals and families, at risk of persecution or other forms of significant harm, gain access to equal and fair representation before the law, and are granted protection by Australia, and opportunities to seek family unity, in accordance with Australia’s international obligations. 

The Role:

The primary role of the Events & Fundraising Support Officer is to assist the marketing and communications team in preparing and delivering range of events and a community fundraising (peer-to-peer) initiative.

This is a part-time (21 hours per week) fixed-term contract to April 2027 based in Randwick. Travel throughout metropolitan Sydney and out of office hours work may be required from time to time. 

You will:

• Assist in the organisation of events, through researching and liaising with cost-effective suppliers and potential partners, and compiling guest lists and segments
• Coordinate on-the-day setup and pack-down, and provide support during events
• Set up and monitor a community fundraising event on Raisely, including digital platform and promotional content, handling participant and donor enquiries, and assisting with social media content during the fundraising period
• Perform administrative tasks, including responding to guest enquiries, meeting minutes, post-event reports and follow-up, and market/partnership research

You are:

An events and/or fundraising professional looking for an opportunity to use your skills to make an impact in the lives of refugees and people seeking asylum. The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential

• Highly organised with good attention to detail
• Experience delivering logistics across a range of event types sizes
• Experience using Humanitix, Raisely or similar digital platforms
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• Nonprofit experience, especially an understanding or refugee or human rights issues
• Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM
• Copywriting or graphic design skills

Salary 

The remuneration for the position is at the SCHADS Award rate Level 2, plus superannuation contribution and loadings. Salary packaging is available.
