Project Officer – Communications & Marketing

Purpose of the Position

The Project Officer is a new full-time role within CQID, created to tell the story of CQID’s work, people, and impact — powerfully, authentically, and in ways that resonate with the communities at the heart of everything we do. This is, at its core, a storytelling role. The person we are looking for understands that behind every data point, every program outcome, and every evaluation finding is a human story — and has the creative skill and cultural sensitivity to bring those stories to life through video, imagery, design, and communications

The Project Officer plays a vitalrole in enabling CQID to achieve its strategic objectives by:

• ·Producing high-quality video content, including leading the planning and production of CQID’s Legacy Documentary – that makes CQID’s work visible, its impact tangible, and its voice unmistakably its own
• Translating complex research findings and impact evaluation data into compelling, accessible communications for all audiences — including community members, funders, government, and the public
• Supporting our ability to tell the story of our impact in a culturally resonant way – one that reflects the voices, experiences, and priorities of the communities we work with.
• Building communications and marketing literacy and confidence of using branding assets across CQID
• Contributing to CQID’s brand strategy and visual identity in collaboration with the Executive Lead

As a member of the Research, Marketing, & Technology (RMT) Team within the Strategic Partnerships and Innovation Directorate, the Project Officer position will report to the Executive Lead Research,Marketing, and Technology and works closely with the Project Lead – Research & Evaluation, and program teams across CQID to bring stories of change to life

Responsibilities and Duties

1.Video Production & Impact Storytelling

• Plan, film, and edit high-quality video content that communicates the organisation’s impact, including event coverage, impact stories, and campaign pieces
• Develop story concepts, scripts/storyboards, and conduct interviews that capture authentic, ethical, and consent-based narratives
• Manage full production workflows from pre-production planning, shooting, editing, colour, sound and captioning – to deliver content optimised for each platform
• Re-purpose long-form footage into short-for clips, reels, and snippets to maximise reach across channels

2. Visual Branding & Graphic Design

• Design on-brand collateral including reports, infographics, posters, flyers, presentations, and event materials
• Uphold and apply brand guidelines consistently across all visual outputs and contribute to evolving the visual identity over time
• Create and maintain reusable emplates and designassets to support consistent, efficient output across teams
• Translate complex information and data into clear, accessible and visually engaging formats

3. Digital, Social Media & Internal Communications

• Develop and manage content calendars across social media channels scheduling and publishing content aligned to campaigns and strategic priorities
• Write, edit and produce engaging copy for digital platforms, newsletters/EDMs, and the website
• Monitor channel performance, report on analytics and engagement, and use insights to refine content and approach
• Coordinate internal communications to keep staff and members informed and engaged

4.Capacity Buildin

• Build the communications and storytelling capability of staff members through training, coaching and resources
• Develop toolkits, guides and templates that enable others to create on-brand effective conten
• Stay across emerging tools, platforms, and best practice, and share knowledge across the organisation
• Support teams to identify and capture impact stories

5.Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with partners on joint communications, co-branded content, and shared campaigns
• Support media engagement, including preparing materials and liaising with media contacts as required

6. Collaboration & Organisational Contribution

• Contribute to the development of a highly effective team by working collaboratively across CQID, sharing knowledge and experiences
• Contribute to CQID’s broader strategic and organisational goals, including in planning processes, organisational events, and cross-team initiatives as required

KeySelection Criteria

 Essential

• Demonstrated experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including an understanding of the current issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a commitment to culturally safe, community-led, and strengths-based practice
• Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, videography, or a related field – with a track record of producing high-quality content across multiple formats and audiences, including materials, social media, and visual content
• Experience in video production – including filming and editing with proficiency in professional editing software
• Proficiency in graphic desiged and visual content production (i.e., Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop,Illustrator, InDesign or equivalent)
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write across formats and audiences – from social media, media releases to impact reports and stakeholder briefs

Desirable

• A relevant qualification in communications, media, marketing, journalism, graphic design, film, or a related field – or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Experience in documentary of long-form video production – including managing productions from concept through to final publication
• Familiarity with website content management systems and digital management tools.
• Understanding of brand management and experience contributing to brand consistency across a multi-channel communications function.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate findings into highly credible and engaging communications for a range of audiences
• Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to consult, collaborate, and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders
• Well-developed planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel as required
