HUMBLE BAKERY | Assistant Manager

HUMBLE Bakery is looking for a warm, capable and hands-on Assistant Manager to join our team.

Part of the Porteño Group, HUMBLE is a busy neighbourhood bakery known for great bread, pastries, sandwiches and coffee, alongside our take on nostalgic Australian bakery classics – including our now renowned finger bun, named Australia’s Best Finger Bun.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality and working with people – someone who can lead from the floor, build relationships with our regulars and support the Manager in keeping the shop running smoothly.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced hospitality person who is ready to take the next step into management, or an existing supervisor or Assistant Manager looking to join an established, independent hospitality group.

Working closely with the Manager, you’ll be involved in all aspects of the day-to-day running of HUMBLE, including:

• Supporting the daily operation of the shop and keeping service running smoothly

• Leading and supporting the team during busy services

• Creating a warm, friendly and efficient experience for our customers

• Helping to train, develop and motivate the team

• Assisting with rosters and reviewing and approving worked hours

• Managing packaging, supplies and other operational orders

• Responding to catering enquiries and coordinating customer orders

• Maintaining presentation, cleanliness and organisation throughout the shop

• Taking ownership of key management responsibilities when the Manager is not on site

• Working closely with the bakery and production teams to ensure the shop is well stocked and ready for service

• Helping maintain the standards and attention to detail that HUMBLE is known for

You’re confident, approachable and comfortable working with both customers and staff. You notice the details, take responsibility and don’t wait for someone else to fix something that needs doing.

You enjoy being part of a team and helping other people become better at what they do. At the same time, you’re comfortable stepping up, making decisions and taking ownership when required.

Most importantly, you genuinely like hospitality. You understand that great service can be as simple as remembering a regular’s coffee order, keeping the shop looking great and making sure your team feels supported during a busy service.

• At least 2 years’ hospitality experience

• Supervisory or management experience is highly regarded

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• A confident, friendly and positive approach

• Excellent organisation and attention to detail

• Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility

• The ability to lead, support and develop staff

• Confidence working in a busy, fast-paced environment

• Barista experience or a good understanding of coffee

• A willingness to be hands-on and work alongside the team
