About the role
The Customer Service Officer is responsible for delivering professional, responsive and efficient customer service to the community while supporting Council's records management and administrative functions. The position serves as the first point of contact to support Council operations.
Key responsibilities
Provide high-quality customer service to internal and external customers via telephone, email, written correspondence and face to face interactions.
Respond to customer enquiries and requests accurately, professionally and in a timely manner.
Record and action customer requests through Council's customer request management systems.
Receive and process payments, issue receipts and assist with daily banking activities.
Provide information on Council services, forms, applications and procedures.
Maintain Council's electronic and physical records in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
Undertake document registration, scanning, filing and retrieval activities.
Ensure customer and corporate records are accurate, complete and appropriately stored.
Provide administrative support to the Corporate & Community Services Department.
Assist with hall and ground hire enquiries, bookings and applications, as necessary.
About you
Experience in a customer service and/or administration role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priority and meet deadlines.
Experience using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organisational and records management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Experience in local government or a similar public sector environment.
