Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a motivated and community minded Principal Activity Centre Realisation Officer to join the Growth and Economic Development Team. Working within the Growth and Economic Development Department, you will lead and facilitate place activation projects that deliver economic, social, cultural, environmental and physical benefits for our community. You will work across Council and with government, business, landowners, developers and industry partners to identify opportunities, attract investment and deliver projects that strengthen the vibrancy, liveability and resilience of our Activity Centres.
This is a strategic and influential role where you will help translate ambitious ideas into practical outcomes, including opportunities for affordable housing, public-private partnerships, private sector investment and innovative placemaking initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and progress viable projects and initiatives that support population growth, affordable housing and the development of key Activity Centres.Develop and manage projects from initiation and scoping through to implementation, including budgets, resources, consultants, contractors, stakeholder engagement and monitoring.Identify and develop public-private partnership and commercially viable business opportunities.Develop strategic business cases, grant applications, proposals and investment opportunities to support Activity Centre development.Build and maintain strong relationships with State and Federal Government agencies, businesses, landowners, development sector stakeholders, industry groups, regional bodies and other local governments.Promote liveability, social and environmental outcomes and contribute to innovative initiatives that foster resilient, connected communities and a strong sense of place.Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Urban Planning, Social Planning, Economics, Engineering or a related field, or alternative formal qualifications supported by extensive relevant experience.Extensive experience in Activity Centre planning and/or revitalisation, which may include housing development, social infrastructure planning and delivery, strategic planning, transport planning or placemaking.Highly developed project and time management skills, strong analytical and strategic thinking capability, and experience managing complex projects, budgets, consultants, contractors and competing priorities.Demonstrated experience negotiating with private sector and government stakeholders, developing business cases, grant applications and proposals, and identifying public-private partnership and investment opportunities.Sound understanding of strategic planning, affordable housing and public-private partnerships will be highly regarded.Strong leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and build productive strategic relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.Next Steps
