OSHC Assistant

The Role
The College is seeking to appoint a casual OSHC Assistant to join our Outside School Hours Care team, working across term time and school holiday vacation care programs. This role involves supporting, supervising and engaging primary school aged children in a safe and caring environment that priorities their wellbeing and safety.
  
Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and engage children during before and after school hours, as well as during school holiday vacation care, always ensuring their safety and wellbeing
• Support children with homework, providing guidance, encouragement and positive reinforcement
• Assist with planning and organising age-appropriate recreational and educational activities for children, fostering their personal, social, and intellectual growth
• Contribute to high quality play-based education and care programs that children respond to children’s ideas, strengths and interests, encouraging independent learning
• Assist in the smooth running of the OSHC service in line with the relevant regulations, policies and procedures under the direction of the OSHC Coordinator
• Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, educators, staff and management ensuring effective communication and cooperation to deliver best outcomes for families and children
• Promote and encourage a respectful and inclusive environment that celebrates diversity
• Contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan and support the OSHC/Vacation Care program in meeting the goals of the approved learning framework
• Assist with the documentation of children’s developmental needs, interests, experiences and participation in the educational program a variety of methods
• Act as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviour and language and professional conduct

  
Qualifications and Requirements:

• Current paid Blue Card
• Certificate III in Children’s Services or a recognised OSHC qualification (desirable)
• Current First Aid & CPR certification
• Anaphylaxis and Emergency Asthma training
• Minimum 1 year working in an OSHC service
• Understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and operational requirements for OSHC Services
• Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and ability to apply it in practice
• Ability to build positive and effective relationships with children, families, colleagues and the broader College community
