About the role
Panaceum Group is seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Medical Screener / Receptionist to join our healthcare team in Geraldton, WA. This is a full-time position based on-site at our Geraldton location (6530). In this dual-function role, you will be instrumental in supporting our occupational health services by managing patient interactions, conducting medical screening assessments, and maintaining the smooth operation of our reception area. You will play a vital part in ensuring our clients receive exceptional care whilst maintaining efficient administrative processes.
If you do not have experience but have a willingness to learn, good values and drive we are willing to provide the required external and internal training to become a medical screener.
Key responsibilities
Greet patients and clients upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming and professional first impression
Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations and rescheduling through our patient management system
Conduct preliminary occupational health medical screenings, including health questionnaires and basic vital sign measurements
Conduct instant drug and alcohol screening
Conduct respiratory and hearing protection fit testing
Conduct WHS audiometric hearing assessments
Prepare patient records and documentation for medical practitioners
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with privacy legislation
Handle telephone inquiries and direct calls appropriately to relevant staff members
Process payments and manage billing documentation
Perform general administrative duties including filing, data entry and correspondence
Ensure the reception area and waiting room are clean, organised and welcoming
Liaise with medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient flow
Support the implementation of infection control and health and safety protocols
What we're looking for
Certificate III or IV in Medical Administration or Pre Hospital
Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare setting
Demonstrated experience in conducting basic medical screening
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse clientele
Proficiency in medical administration software and Microsoft Office applications
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements and privacy legislation (Australian Privacy Principles)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Reliability and punctuality with a commitment to professional standards
Experience in occupational health, pre-employment medical screening
Experience in respiratory and hearing protection fit testing
Experience in conducting lung function spirometry screening
Experience in drug and alcohol screening
