Burnie Arts is looking for a Function and Events Officer to take the lead in delivering functions, events and community programs that bring people together and showcase everything our vibrant cultural precinct has to offer.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people, managing the detail and seeing an event come together from start to finish.
What you will be doing
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality functions and events at Burnie Arts, working closely with clients, hirers, event partners, contractors, community organisations and stakeholders.
Your work will include:

Managing function and event administration, financials and records.
Working with the Performing Arts and Marketing teams to develop exciting events and programs for the community.
Supporting venue security, building maintenance and the safety of staff and patrons.
Identifying opportunities to continually improve the customer and event experience.
About you
We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially minded and great with people, with the confidence to assist in managing a busy venue and competing priorities.
You will bring:
Experience in venue hire, event management or venue operations.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Commercial acumen and the ability to identify opportunities to grow venue utilisation and revenue.
Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
Strong administration skills and attention to detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work independently.
Strong written communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
A flexible approach to working hours, including regular evenings and weekends.
Experience in the hospitality or entertainment industry will be highly regarded.
Fire Warden and/or First Aid training will be an advantage.
Why Burnie Arts?
