About the role
The Company
We are Sealy International – a leading manufacturer of premium sleeping solutions, with operations across Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, India and the United Kingdom.
In business since 1923, we partner with our national network of retailers to help millions of people achieve better sleep. Our pursuit to refine and advance Posturepedic technology, backed by orthopaedic research, has resulted in world-class innovation that people love.
Staffed by over 2,500 highly skilled and valued employees, we have a passion for developing local expertise and talent.
Sealy is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
As part of this commitment to innovation and developing our people, we have an exciting opportunity to join our NATA-accredited International Research & Development team at our Brisbane head office.
The Opportunity
No lab experience? No problem.
We’re looking for someone who is practical, curious and keen to learn. You might be starting your career, looking for a change, or simply excited by the opportunity to develop new technical skills.
As part of Sealy’s Research & Development team, you’ll receive hands-on training and gain broad exposure to our testing, quality and product development processes. You’ll learn how we test and evaluate raw materials, components and finished products, while building practical laboratory skills alongside an experienced team.
For the right person, we can also offer a workplace-based traineeship pathway towards becoming a qualified Laboratory Technician, combining practical on-the-job experience with a recognised qualification.
Specific responsibilities include:
Test preparation: Collect, prepare and dispose of raw materials, components and finished products for conditioning and testing – This includes Manual Handling of materials and mattresses.
Testing: Conduct testing and assessment of raw materials, components and finished products.
Data entry & test reporting: Record results and generate laboratory test reports.
NATA accreditation support: Assist with routine instrument checks, laboratory maintenance and activities supporting our NATA accreditation.
About you
Previous laboratory experience is welcome, but definitely not essential.
What’s more important to us is that you:
Are curious and willing to learn
Enjoy practical, hands-on work
Have good attention to detail
Can follow processes and instructions
Are comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office
Communicate well and enjoy working as part of a team
If you’re ready to learn new skills and start building a technical career with Sealy, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today with your resume and a brief cover letter telling us why you’d like to work at Sealy.
