Collections Officer | 12-Month FTC | Early Stage Collections

We are partnering with a well-established financial services organisation seeking a Collections & Recoveries Officer to join their growing team on a 12-months fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in collections, financial assistance, customer service or financial services who enjoys balancing customer outcomes with commercial objectives. Working within a collaborative and supportive environment, you will manage a portfolio of customers, helping to resolve outstanding arrears while maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring compliance with internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customers with overdue accounts and outstanding payments.
• Contact customers via phone, email and written correspondence to discuss arrears and agree on suitable repayment solutions.
• Assess customer circumstances and determine appropriate collections strategies.
• Monitor payment arrangements and proactively follow up on missed commitments.
• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and administrative issues.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation within internal systems.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure timely resolution of cases.
• Escalate complex matters where appropriate and assist with recovery activities when required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support a positive team culture.

About You

• Previous experience in collections, recoveries, financial services, banking, lending or customer service.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to build rapport and navigate challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience within equipment finance, asset finance, leasing or vendor finance environments, highly regarded.
• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline.
