We're looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team on a 3-month contract based on-site in Melbourne, VIC.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on DBA with strong SQL Server experience who enjoys working across database operations, performance, troubleshooting, upgrades and project support.

Requirements

What You'll Do

Provide SQL Server administration and operational support across production and non-production environmentsMonitor database performance, capacity and overall health, proactively identifying and resolving issuesManage database backup, restore and recovery processes, including disaster recovery testingMonitor SQL Agent jobs, database services and routine maintenance activitiesPlan and execute database upgrades, migrations and approved changesApply SQL Server patches, cumulative updates and security fixesSupport application and project teams with database deployments, troubleshooting and technical adviceSupport monthly operating system patching and validate database services following maintenanceAssist with incident resolution through established service management processesMaintain database documentation and ensure operational, security and governance requirements are metCollaborate with infrastructure, application support, project teams and external vendorsAssist with broader infrastructure and operational activities as required

What You'll Bring

3-5 years' experience in a DBA or similar database-focused roleStrong hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration experienceExperience supporting enterprise production and non-production environmentsStrong knowledge of database monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshootingExperience with database backup, restore and recovery processesExperience with SQL Server patching, upgrades and migrationsKnowledge of SQL Agent jobs, database maintenance and health checksExposure to Veeam and disaster recovery processes would be highly regardedStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage incidents and competing prioritiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsThe ability to work collaboratively across infrastructure, application and project teamsA proactive approach, with a focus on maintaining secure, stable and high-performing database environmentsAustralian-based candidates preferred
