Based in Ipswich, Warwick or Stanthorpe 

Make a real difference with your lived experience! Use your experience to support others in their recovery journey. We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Peer Worker to join our team. Drawing on your lived experience of recovery or supporting someone close to you through mental health challenges, you will provide meaningful peer support that empowers individuals with complex mental health needs to achieve their recovery goals and enhance their wellbeing.

Your key responsibilities

• Provide support to individuals impacted by trauma, informed by your own lived experience of recovery. 
• Develop recovery-oriented plans and deliver evidence-based interventions for those experiencing mental health distress, including victims of domestic, family, and sexual violence.
• Collaborate with clinicians, carers, and community services to deliver non-clinical, community-focused support. 
• Conduct risk assessments and safety planning as needed.
• Use digital tools to offer virtual care services via telehealth where appropriate. 

What you’ll bring to the role

Essential:

•  Diploma or Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent qualification. 
• Evidence of Mandatory Child Safety Training
•  Experience in strengths-based, recovery-oriented support and trauma-informed care.
•  Ability to connect with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and lived experiences.
•  Organisational and communication skills to deliver both one-on-one and group-based support effectively.
•  Flexibility to travel and work after hours when required. 
• Confidence in using Microsoft Office tools and digital health platforms. 

Desirable:

• Understanding of stigma and discrimination and its impact on mental health recovery. 
• Knowledge and skills in supporting people experiencing suicidal ideation and responding appropriately to suicide risk.
• Knowledge of mental health legislation and the primary healthcare landscape.
