About the role
St George Community is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Community Transport Drivers to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time position based in Mortdale, NSW 2223, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly and disabled community members by providing safe, reliable and dignified transportation services.
As a Community Transport Driver, you will be the face of our organisation, delivering exceptional customer service whilst operating our community vehicles. This role is integral to our mission of enhancing mobility and independence for vulnerable members of our community. You will work in a supportive team environment, contributing to St George Community's commitment to accessibility and social inclusion.
Key responsibilities
Operate community transport vehicles safely and professionally, adhering to all road rules and safety regulations
Provide compassionate and respectful assistance to elderly and disabled passengers, including support with boarding and alighting from vehicles
Maintain accurate trip records, passenger logs and vehicle documentation
Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately
Plan and execute efficient driving routes to ensure timely collection and delivery of passengers
Communicate professionally with passengers, colleagues and management regarding any concerns or special requirements
Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes passenger dignity and independence
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the vehicle at all times
Follow all company policies, procedures and duty of care requirements
What we're looking for
Current full LR driver's licence (Category C may be considered) with a clean driving record
Working With Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check clearance
Proof of right to work in Australia
Current First Aid Certificate (CPR) or willingness to obtain one
Demonstrated experience working with elderly or disabled individuals in a support or care capacity
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable people
Strong communication abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively within a team
Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work
Physical fitness to assist passengers and perform manual handling tasks safely
Knowledge of the local St George area or surrounding regions is advantageous
Qualifications or training in disability awareness or aged care are preferred but not essential
