About the role
For over 35 years, our family-owned meat processing business has proudly supplied high-quality red meat products to local butcher shops and major Australian supermarkets. With newly attained export accreditation, we have built a strong international order book spanning the USA, Korea, the UAE, and the Pacific Islands.
We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Trainee Ovine Skin Classifier and help strengthen our ongoing operations.
This hands-on trainee position is designed for someone looking to build a long-term career in the processing and grading industry. No prior experience is necessary, as full on-the-job training will be provided across all company procedures, policies, OH&S guidelines, and expert skin-classing techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning to class and grade ovine skins based on quality, length, hide damage, breed, and category.
Operating wool presses and managing palletizing processes.
Conducting routine stocktaking.
Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe working environment.
To be successful in this trainee role, you will meet the following criteria:
Full working rights within Australia.
Physical fitness and the ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
Capacity to repeatedly lift up to 20kg.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
A reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
Willingness to undergo the Q-Fever vaccination (or proof of prior completion).
While previous experience is not required for this entry-level position, any of the following will be viewed favourably:
Prior experience in skin, hide, or wool classing.
Experience in processing pelts, hides, or similar agricultural products.
A current, valid forklift licence.
